Autumn bathroom trends your customers will love

With autumn around the corner, your customers might be considering an update to their bathrooms, so it’s always good to know what’s trending, in case they need any inspiration. For 2023, there are some clear bathroom trends, so we’ve gathered the key ones together below ahead of autumn, so you can advise your clients if they want a seasonal upgrade …

Modern and minimal

The Onyx Polished Recitifed Tile reflects the trend for moving beyond marble and embracing other rock types.

Continuing into the autumn, the popularity of keeping things simple in the bathroom means that customers remain keen on achieving a modern style with minimal clutter and unnecessary items. Practically, this means sleek, clean lines, smooth curves and good storage options, along with contemporary matt and brushed brass finishes – which also conjure up warmth. Adopting a modern take on an old classic – such as a gloss finish on a modern onyx tile, for example – is also popular.

These trends further feed into the ongoing desire to create a spa-like vibe in bathrooms – something which started during the pandemic and has endured beyond it.

To achieve this aesthetic, think sleek freestanding baths, wall-hung vanity units, reflective surfaces such as glossy tiles and glass shower doors. The smooth curves of slipper baths and other bathroom furniture also feeds into the more flowing shapes of nature – another trend which we’ll discuss below.

Neutral and natural

Retaining the connection with nature, which was rekindled for many people during the past few years, means that bringing some of the outdoors indoors is another key element for many modern bathrooms. From using stone and wood-effect flooring to more natural looking wall tiles with textured, uneven finishes and a more neutral colour palette, there are lots of ways to bring nature indoors.

Wood accessories and maximising lighting also contributes to the neutral and natural aesthetic, as well as using mirrors to reflect more natural light within the room. Marble continues to be having a moment as well, so using marble-effect tiles for walls and flooring, along with more contemporary rock effects such as onyx will help to bring the soothing tones of the natural world into customers’ homes.

Wood-effect flooring and marble tiles, combined with the streamlined curves of a freestanding bath, all help to create a natural bathroom aesthetic.

Green continues to be a trending tone for 2023 and looks set to continue into autumn – again, it brings with it the calming sense of nature, as do earthy tones, which are also warming going into winter. Think honey colours and the golden hues of brushed brass, as well as layering darker palettes to create a cosy feeling in bathrooms.

Contemporary with technology

Adding tech to bathrooms continues to grow in popularity, with LED and Bluetooth mirrors, along with mirrored cabinets, bringing Smart technology firmly into the bathroom. Customers can subsequently sync up their devices with the mirrors, playing their favourite music while they wash, thanks to the handy Bluetooth feature.

The LED lighting also provides an even amount of light – usually adjustable – which makes getting ready a breeze and is easily personalised, depending on the intensity and type of light you prefer.

Bluetooth mirrors like the Stream Bluetooth LED Mirror continue to be a popular addition to bathrooms.

Maximising mirrors

Mirrors are also great as a way of enhancing natural light within the bathroom and, with all sorts of frames, shapes and styles available, they can become a stylish feature as well as being functional. From brushed brass framed mirrors to frameless LED models, large rectangular mirrors and more, there are plenty of options when it comes to this bathroom staple.

Many also now come with inbuilt demisters, along with charging ports for shavers and electric toothbrushes. In addition to all of this, mirrors help to make rooms look more spacious, so are great for smaller bathrooms in particular.

Floating fixtures

Tying in with the minimal look, floating fixtures such as vanity units and toilets are a great way to save space and will keep your customers’ bathrooms looking smart and stylish. They’re also great for smaller rooms as they create the illusion of more space, while also providing all the necessary storage and functionalities that your customers need.

Floating furniture in bathrooms help maximise space and give a more minimal look.

As we move into the cooler months this autumn, you can therefore expect to see a continuation of customers wanting to create a haven in their bathrooms, alongside a drive to make them cosy and cocooning. Whether that’s achieved through installing luxury items like floorstanding baths and stylish rain showers, or via mood lighting, a minimal spa-like aesthetic or by introducing more textiles and textures, there are many ways to go about it.
